Local Glendale fascists and terminally online weirdos Ani Torosyan and James Clarke were joined by Nazi freaks from the Valley Manuk Grigorian and Narek Palyan in person as they expanded on their Holy War Against Bike Lanes™ at least week's Glendale City Council meeting.
Because one of the more normal council members was out of town, and because Ara Najarian and Vartan Gharpetian cannot do the bare minimum required of reading council reports and agendas (or even the city's own website) ahead of time, the 20-year master bicycle plan to ease traffic, reduce pollution, and promote safer streets citywide failed to move forward for now.
The meeting devolved into peak Ara Najarian Tantrum, wherein he reminded everyone how long he's been on council and of other meetings he was at while making loud sentences about businesses and the Verdugo Wash.
In remarks to Counci, Gharpetian thinks that by having bike lanes, the council is "putting people out of their cars." Can someone please get this man a functioning brain! The meeting lasted until nearly 3am, with the pro-common sense group far outnumbering the random outside haters.
One extremely odd and apparently violent duck by the name of Andrew Zadourian decided to get up and use his public comment to explicitly tell the room that he would run over cyclists if the bike plans were approved. The video was later posted to Glendale Parents' Voices account, where they approved of his threats. Maro Yacoubian's "Armenians of Glendale" account threw up flames and hearts too.
Guess Maro and GPV's concern for children's safety does not apply when it comes to having safe streets. Watch out for Zadourian, kids! He won't stop!
Meanwhile, online weirdos Glendale Parents' Voices, aka the loser mama bears of Glendale, repeatedly amplified hateposts against actual Glendale residents who have been organizing for years to promote safe streets. Aneta Krpekyan took extra time to deadname some of the queer bike safety advocates. (Editor's note: not your best writing, ma'am). The Instagram content posted by GPV and Aneta seemed like just another excuse for them to spew transphobia all over social media. (Interestingly, the same anti-bike homophobic proxy war has cropped up in other cities, including Madison, Wisconsin.)
Question: How are these amazing mothers spending any time with their children when they seem to spend all evening online harassing people who are gay or who advocate for tolerance or safe streets? Why are they spending precious summertime trying to find a new culture war talking point that will stick after CRT, DEI, and LGBTQ+ didn't pan out?
They should go ride bikes with their kids! (Just watch out for those drivers.)
